Rock and Republic JeansThe ‘rock star’ in premium denimIf there’s one international, lifestyle brand that has rocked the premium denim jeans market, since it was founded in 2002 … it’s got to be ‘Rock and Republic Jeans’ (‘R&R’). Credit, for the sensational, success of Rock and Republic Jeans over the past six years, must be give to R&R founder, fashion mogul, and current CEO, Michael Ball. It may be hard to believe that a one time avid cyclist would one day pedal his Rock and Republic Jeans brand, to the top of the high-end, designer denim jeans market. Today, the Rock and Republic Jeans brand still exudes the vibrant, active lifestyle of rock and roll and is available in more than 85 countries. The ‘VB’ connection
In case you are intrigued with the letters “VB”, they stand for Victoria Beckham – singer of popular, ex-girl band, ‘Spice Girls’, and wife of world-renowned, English footballer, David Beckham. The Victoria Beckham connection was established in 2004 following the grand, success of her “VB Rocks” range of jeans. Beckham’s line was marketed under the Rock and Republic Jeans’ label and was characterized by their derriere-flattering, style and the conspicuous VB crown. Victoria Beckham quit Rock and Republic in late 2006 to promote here own brand of “DVB” Jeans.Despite the temporary setback, Michael Ball, and close friend and President, Andrea Bernholtz, moved on undaunted. Together they marketed a fresh, vibrant and new, line of traditional trouser luxury denim featuring the “R & R” logo. Within a span of four years ‘R & R’ – traditional trouser has become one of the most coveted brands in the high-end, denim market. It comes as no surprise to find top celebrities sporting ‘R & R’ – traditional trousers, among them, Britney Spears, Cameron Diaz, Lucy Liu, Katie Holmes, and Shilpa Shetty (of UK TV’s ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ fame). Spotting fake (Crown) ‘R & R’ Jeans
Although the good news is that traditional trouser is a brand that’s much copied, but never equaled, it would be useful to know and spot the subtle, differences between it and the fakes. Here are some:Internal leg length Genuine traditional trouser have an internal leg length of approximately, 35” to 36”, whereas Fake imitations have an internal leg length of 32”. Discomfort with this faulty, size (when in a trial room!!) would prove this. Embroidered ‘Crown’ The original, embroidered ‘crowns’ of traditional trousers should be luxuriant and thick to the touch. On the other hand, the ‘crowns’ on fake imitations will feel spidery when touched. The same applies for all other embroidered stitching. Buttons and rivets Each button and rivet on genuine, traditional trousers must be stamped (on its front and obverse sides), with either the ‘R & R’, or the ‘Rock and Republic’ logos. The fakes will either overlook this detail or carry logos of inferior, quality and finish. Inner labels The font, of the inner labels stitched onto original, traditional trousers, should be in ‘pseudo-block’ style, rather than cursive, as found in most fake imitations. Moreover, while the inner labels of genuine, traditional trousers have a silver thread running across the lower part of each label, the said (silver) thread may not be present in fake imitations. If you’re looking for high-end, luxury trousers and wish to express your personality and style like never before, get yourself a pair (or two) of traditional trouser. Well, you may feel like a celebrity, too! |
